Mayor Eric Adams celebrated accomplishments highlighted in the Fiscal Year 2024 Mayor’s Management Report (MMR), which showcases significant strides in public safety, housing, and affordability in New York City. “New Yorkers elected this administration because they wanted a safer, more affordable city,” stated Mayor Adams. “This year’s MMR shows that we’re continuing to deliver exactly that. New York City isn’t just coming back; it’s better than ever.”

Chief Advisor to the mayor Ingrid P. Lewis-Martin echoed the mayor’s sentiments, emphasizing the administration’s focus on building a safer, more affordable city. “Our North Star has always been building a safer, more affordable city, and that’s exactly what we’re doing,” said Lewis-Martin. The MMR reports a 15% decrease in murders and an 18% decrease in shootings, demonstrating the city’s success in improving public safety.

New York City Police Department Interim Commissioner Thomas Donlon highlighted the NYPD’s commitment to reducing crime and improving community safety. “The men and women of the NYPD are tirelessly working to prevent crime, resulting in significant reductions in serious offenses,” stated Donlon. The NYPD has seized over 18,300 guns since the beginning of the mayor’s administration, contributing to a safer environment for residents.

Deputy Mayor for Strategic Initiatives Ana J. Almanzar also focused on the administration’s achievements in supporting the city’s youth. “Our achievements this year, including improved access to child care and a strong summer youth employment program, underscore our commitment to valuing investment in our youth, which is the future of our city,” she said. Additionally, there has been a notable increase in youth participation in free city programs, highlighting the city’s investment in its future.

Tiffany Raspberry, Director of Intergovernmental Affairs and External Relations, credited the administration’s partnerships for achieving these improvements. “The victories we achieved in Washington, DC, Albany, and locally have helped us build a safer, more affordable New York City,” remarked Raspberry. With the introduction of new goals and nearly 350 indicators in the MMR, the administration continues its efforts to enhance transparency and service delivery for all New Yorkers.
