A Friday Jummah prayer at a Queens mosque was disrupted when supporters of Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani confronted former Governor Andrew Cuomo during his visit. Witnesses reported that protesters attempted to block Cuomo’s entry and later interrupted his remarks inside the mosque, creating tension during the service.

Mosque leaders stressed the need for respect during religious observances. Mr. Hussain, a representative of the mosque, highlighted the institution’s open-door policy. “We need to unite and build this country. If anybody comes, welcome,” he explained, noting that the mosque does not turn away visitors regardless of political affiliation.

Congregants described the protest as a serious breach of decorum, emphasizing that the disruption disrespected the imam, elders, and worshippers gathered for their weekly prayer. Community members called for civility and respect, underscoring the importance of preserving the sanctity of Jummah services.
