On Wednesday, September 4th, four people were killed in a shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia. Police reports state that a call was made at 9:30 am that there was an active shooter on the high school campus. At the time of reporting, four people have died, with nine others injured.

Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith stated, “We’re not releasing any information as far as injuries, but we have multiple injuries.” Authorities are expected to provide an update shortly.

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp released a statement saying, “I have directed all available state resources to respond to the incident at Apalachee High School and urge all Georgians to join my family in praying for the safety of those in our classrooms, both in Barrow County and across the state.”

President Joe Biden commented on the shooting, “What should have been a joyous back-to-school season in Winder, Georgia, has now turned into another horrific reminder of how gun violence continues to tear our communities apart. Students across the country are learning how to duck and cover instead of how to read and write. We cannot continue to accept this as normal.”
